Wow!

This summer has been unexpectedly PACKED FULL of activities for The Rescue Ministries!  Here are some updates on what is going on.

We have had some obstacles and blessings with the Shipping Container.  We have a new (and hopefully final) deadline for shipment - AUGUST 1, 2012.  Please pray for this project.  We are still collecting the following items:
 First Aid Supplies
Medicated Shampoo (for lice)
Plastic Patio Chairs (the stacking type)
Bibles
Discipleship Books (or other Christian books)
Flip-flops
Sanitary Napkins
Musical Instruments

Our next mission team is leaving in just ONE WEEK!
Dustin
Ray
Jared
Adam
Tori
Cathi
Heidi
Bev
Please pray for them as they love on the kids and tackle some new projects to get the Wesley Home for Youth moving in the direction of building on land that has been donated and is ready for the cultivation God will provide in the lives of 200+ children that are currently living in the trash and streets with NO HOPE!

We are also in the process of moving our blog so that you will only have one stop to make when you want updates on what God is doing through this ministry.  This is my last post on this site!  Please check the link below.

Thank you for your support of this ministry and I pray it will not end here!

Thankful, Sheryl

Street Kids

In June 2009 when I first visited the Philippines my heart was especially touched by the many children residing on the streets.

With R.J. in June 2009

It ripped my heart out every night as we drove through town and saw children sleeping on the sidewalks or near the pumps at gas stations.

Even when driving near the mall, tiny little children would come and literally press their faces to our windows....begging.

I still so often think of these precious souls.  Souls overlooked, abandoned.

T
God gave the opportunity for us to feed these two boys during the July 2011 trip.  The one on the left (R.J.)  has been living at the McDonalds for FOUR YEARS.  Every night he sleeps in a tiny little tree in front.

My heart aches for them...SO MANY of them!

Please open your heart to this ministry.  EVERY cent you give goes directly to support children like these and rescue more.  We already have so many on the waiting list to come to Wesley Home where they can have a safe, loving environment, receive 3 meals everyday, get an education and learn about Jesus.

Word

Luke 18:1-8

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.

He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’

For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’”

And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

Project Pillowcase

Another 72 sweet dresses have been delivered and are on the container for shipment!

Although there will be many other pieces of clothing on the container these dresses are just precious and for me are different than a regular t-shirt or pair of pants.

When a girl gets dressed up it boosts her self esteem a bit and for the girls in the trash that is tremendous.  The girls who've been raped, abused, prostituted by their family....  a new dress is a bandaid, yes - but a means of reaching out to them.

Total to date - 347
Goal  - 500

Only 153 dresses more to meet the goal for this year!

Blessings

God continues to pour His many blessings onto our ministry!

Yesterday Step 1 of the building process was completed.  We now begin praying over Step 2 and trusting that God will provide.

Please pray with us that God will place the right people in our lives as we begin the major building process.  Also pray that God will guide us as we continue on this journey.

Thankful, Sheryl

Word

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Prayer

I would like to ask you to join us in prayer.

We are asking God to provide the funds to complete Step 1 of Building WHY.  We are already 1/3 of the way there.  Land has been donated and now needs to be cleared and secured with fencing.

Please pray with us as we begin this new chapter!

And of Joseph he said, “Blessed by the Lord be his land, with the choicest gifts of heaven above, and of the deep that crouches beneath, with the choicest fruits of the sun and the rich yield of the months, with the finest produce of the ancient mountains and the abundance of the everlasting hills,  with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness and the favor of him who dwells in the bush.
Deuteronomy 33:13-16

Second Chance

This song has been in my mind and heart today.  I am so grateful for many second chances that God has given me during my life and will continue to give.

My future hangs on this
You made preciousness from dust
Please don't stop creating me

Your blood offers the chance
To rewind to innocence
Reborn, perfect as a child

Oh your cross, it changes everything
There my world begins again with you
Oh your cross, its where my hope restarts
A second chance is Heaven's heart

Countless second chances
We've been given at the cross
Countless second chances
We've been given at the cross

Fragments of brokenness
Salvaged by the art of grace
You craft life from our mistakes

Black skies of my regrets
Outshone by this kindness
New life dawns over my soul

Oh your cross, it changes everything
There my world begins again with you
Oh your cross, its where my hope restarts
A second chance is Heaven's heart

Countless second chances
We've been given at the cross
Countless second chances
We've been given at the cross

The words "A second chance is Heaven's heart", these are the words that dig into my heart and mind.  How precious to know that our savior wants to give us more chances!  We must only come back to the cross.

Thankful, Sheryl

John Noel

**There seems to have been a glitch in the posting of the information about John Noel.  I don't want to take a chance on this child being overlooked so I am reposting to make sure it is highlighted appropriately!

Eight year old John Noel joined Wesley Home for Youth in December 2011. He is small for his age, but very independent.

When John Noel arrived, he and his two younger siblings had been living with his grandfather.  His mother is a working single mother and is not able to care for the children.

At a young age he has learned to become independent and takes care of his two younger siblings. At home he helps doing the household chores and does simple errands for his family.

John Noel is currently in grade 2.  He maintains average grades in school but could excel with supervision and extra study time.

John Noel is currently in need of committed monthly sponsors.  What can you give to help this child?  Click here to donate today.

Thankful, Sheryl

Container

The Rescue Ministries exists because of one God-sized event after another.  And yet we are experiencing another!

A generous donor is using his time and his resources to provide shipment of a large shipping container to the Philippines!

So now we need to pool our own resources and fill this HUGE container!  That's the easy part, right?

We are confident that God will supply all our needs, but we must ask.

Below is a list of potential items that we would love to send over.

Bibles

Vitamin C

First Aid items or kits

Sewing Machines

Flip-flops

Books

Craft Supplies

Basketballs

Volleyballs

We are also looking for one particular item and maybe you have one available or know someone who does.  We are in great need of a large van, small bus or a similar vehicle.  Vehicle are very expensive in the Philippines and we currently don't have a way to transport our kids.

Where can you help?  Consider your resources... do you have Bibles stacked on bookshelf that aren't being used?  an working sewing machine that hasn't been used in a while?  craft supplies overflowing in your craft room?

Consider giving!

Thankful, Sheryl

Word

Joshua 1:8-9
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
