But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows.

speaking of sweet faces....

You know that moment when you receive a package that contains pictures you have been eagerly waiting to see?  It's just like that when we receive an email with new pictures of the WHY kids! 

It makes my heart skip a beat to see God growing our WHY family.  The kids are so happy, on their way to healthy, in school full time and part of a family in a safe environment.

Best of all they are learning how to become spiritually whole.  They are learning about Jesus! 

A few prayer requests:

Please pray for the health of WHY, some of the children have had Chicken Pox.

Please pray as the kids are in the process of finishing their school year and taking final exams.

Also pray about solid staff that provide stability for WHY.

Jomel

Jomel is a shy and very quiet young boy.  His neighbors describe him as a good boy who likes to play alone. 

He prefers staying at home instead of attending school because of harsh bullying that he has endured in the past. Due to his sporatic attendance at school, at age 14 he is only in grade 2.

Jomel is the youngest of four children.  All of his older siblings are married but still live with his parents and their own families in the dumpsite area.  Their father earns a meager wage as a Day Laborer.  With so many family members to support, Jomel's parents are under a great financial strain.

When Jomel learned of one of his former neighbors and friends being at WHY he was optimistic about his chance to finish his education in a safe enviroment.  His mother and father are hopeful for Jomel's success.  Jomel dreams of becoming a police officer so that he can help his family financially and "catch criminals and bad people".

Please pray for Jomel as he adjusts to his new home and family.  Also pray for him as he faces his fear and returns to school.

Sweet Face

At the elementary school where I serve we have a teacher who teaches her class the "sweet face". 

This is specifically for when the children are lining up to change classes or other times when walking or waiting in the hallways and are expected to be quiet.  The children hold their "shush" finger over their lips and silently face forward looking to the teacher.

For a teacher this is indeed a "sweet face".

I am confident, to God it would be a precious sight as well.

Me quiet.
I so desperately want to hear Him, why am I still talking?


Me listening for His instructions.
I so desperately need His instruction, why do I allow so much noise to crowd it out?


Me focused on Him.
I so desperately want to see Him moving in my life, my home, my world; why do I let insignificant, miniscule things, even important things distract me?

I am praying that today my face will be a "sweet face".

Millow Jean

Meet Millow Jean, the newest girl of

Wesley Home for Youth!



Millow is the 3rd of 6 children born into a family of poverty.  Her parents are both scavengers in the dumpsites where they live, earning a mear $18 a week between the two of them.  This income doesn't allow them to pay for school tuition.

Millow is currently in grade 6.  She is elated at the opportunity she will have at Wesley Home to finish her education.  She dreams of one day completing her college degree and becoming a teacher. 

Millow Jean is smart, beautiful and a responsible young girl.  At her home she completes most of the household tasks including doing the laundry for her entire family, cooking and washing dishes.  On weekends at home she helps her mother and father with their scavenging.

Please pray for Millow Jean as she adjusts to Wesley Home and her new house-siblings.

Project Pillowcase 2012

It is time again for Project Pillowcase!

The original April 2012 trip has been moved to July 2012.  This gives us more time to prepare and pray.  Thanks to those who have so graciously joined me in the past.  I hope you will join me again and continue spreading the word to your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers about this project.

Project Pillowcase is changing a little.  While we (The Rescue Ministries and Offer Them Christ) are still solely focused on the children in the dumpsites and streets of Cebu, Philippines God is broadening the borders of Project Pillowcase!  Some of our dresses during this round will be going to Nicaragua and Guatemala!

I am excited and aprehensive at the same time!  While I want to share with others our overflow of dresses I also don't want anyone to lose sight of my precious ones in the Philippines.  But HOW can we turn down the opportunity to spread God's love??  We CAN'T!

I know that God is the God of ALL THINGS and He's GOT THIS!


Jabez prayed for God to expand his territory.  And the Word says, "God granted his request."  When we pray that God will let us reach people, He gives us avenues, opportunities and resources that we don't even have the capacity of which to dream.  It is up to us to take advantage of the open doors and walk through.  God has blessed this Project with people wanting to be involved and we are going to spread the Good News as far as we can!
