Commitments

In Ruth 2, Boaz sees Ruth's commitment to Naomi. When Ruth’s husband died, she could have easily turned back as Orpah did, but she was committed. Boaz sees the character and determination Ruth has to care for and provide for Naomi. Boaz then takes her under his wing and watches over her as she gleans in the fields.

As a 12 member team in June 2009, we were committed to make a change in Cebu, Philippines. I believe that God saw this and moved mountains as only He can. God removed many obstacles as we filed paperwork, raised funds, created a board of directors to administer things necessary to get the Wesley Home for Youth in progress.

In January 2010 the new 8 member team was committed to getting the orphanage ready, opened and locating the children God wanted in the home. God provided construction workers, supplies and ten children moved in within a few days.

While we are not there physically, a dear friend is seeing that all things are cared for, provided and needs of the children are being met.

We are blessed that our vision is becoming a reality and that we have committed people around us. But so much more we are blessed by a committed God. I have lived a broken life, but God has never failed to take me back under His wing each and every time I run back to Him. He has never demanded apologies or sulked at me for failing my commitments to Him. He is faithful. He is true.

I pray that as you think of your commitments to God that He will bring things to mind that you may be neglecting. Maybe you spend more time complaining than reading His precious word. Maybe you spend more time watching television than praying and seeking His will for your life. It is easy to get busy, even with things that are good. Church Council meetings, choir practice, volunteering your time to raise money for your child’s school…..the list is endless. We are all busy people. Let’s not get too busy to spend time with the one we say we serve.

Please also pray regarding four of our children who still need committed monthly sponsors.

Thankful and recommitting, Sheryl
