Dresses!

All the dresses have arrived, been sorted by size and are ready to be packed into the bags of our mission team members.

My original goal was to double the 107 dresses sent Fall 2010.  I at first thought it may be tough to get to 214 dresses, but I should never have doubted.

The final total.....drum roll please....

375

That's right, 375 little girls will have a brand new dress of their very own!

375 little girls will feel special and that someone cares about them.

We have the opportunity to show Jesus' love to 375 girls of all sizes.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this round of Project Pillowcase.  It definitely will continue.  I'm thrilled and inspired that some of you also came up with options for the boys.  I will do my best to get tutorials ready and have more information available for you.  I'm grateful that so many are interested in keeping it growing!  I will post as many pictures as possible during and after our mission trip.

Only 9 days until the July 2011 Mission begins!

So very thankful, Sheryl

Dilemmas

I saw a status on a friend's Facebook page that read

"When life gives you dilemmas, make dilemmanade."

When I saw it I cracked up.  The twist on "when life gives you lemons..." struck me so funny and I've not forgotten it.

So recently this quote returned to my mind, but in a not so funny kind of way.  In more of an annoyed, tired of excuses kind of way.

People seem to be content with making excuses for not serving God....their troubled past, their trust issues, their issues with hypocritical church-goers....issues, issues, ISSUES!  We all have them.

Are you still making excuses for something someone else has done or done to you?

How much does it matter what kind of life you've had - He GAVE His life away FOR YOU, so start living!
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10

How much does it matter what kind of people go to your church - He turned over tables when He found the money changers in His temple.
Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”
Matthew 21:12-13

Do you really want people who have hurt you in the past continue to hurt you in the future?   If we live our lives making excuses for ourselves because of what someone else did to us are we really living OUR lives? At what point do you turn from your past and choose a different path for your life.

We only have one life to live, one life to give.

Turn to Jesus!

He wants to comfort, be your strength, be your guiding light, be your all.

Please don't hear me saying - get over it and move on....I know life is tough and can be very harsh!  People can be very hurtful, after all there was only one perfect man on this Earth.  But He was all we needed and He still is.

Stop making excuses and live life to the fullest.

Thankful, Sheryl

Word

Psalm 3

LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me!

Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.”

But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain.

I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.

I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.

Arise, LORD!  Deliver me, my God!

Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.

From the LORD comes deliverance.

May your blessing be on your people.

Changes

Hello friends!

It is exciting times for The Rescue Ministries!  As you may have noticed things change on this blog quite often, mostly in the "Current Needs" section.  This is because everyday people like you are filling some needs, then we tackle new areas which need to be addressed.

Most recently our brothers and sisters at Shady Grove UMC donated Purpose Driven Life materials for a Bible study that Wesley Home will begin soon.  We have the opportunity to take these supplies with us in a few days and hand deliver them to the children in the home.

I am saying it so often lately but WE HAVE A BIG GOD WITH UNLIMITED RESOURCES!

I believe this with my whole heart, He proves himself to me over and over.  Almost as if to say, I am the Lord, your God.  We serve an astonishing God, friends!

Isaiah 41:13
For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

So take a look at our current needs...where can you help serve the orphaned and abandoned children in the Philippines?  Where will you trust God and give of your own resources?

Thankful, Sheryl

In about 3 weeks the July 2011 Mission Team will be traveling to the Philippines.  While there we will be visiting the dumpsite.

We will be seeing faces like these....

Faces of the Dumpsite.

Faces of the blessings of God.

“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’   Numbers 6:24-26

Project Pillowcase update

Dresses have arrived from Nebraska, California, Utah and of course Tennessee!  So far 270 dresses are ready to make the journey half way around the world.

Although this project will continue as long you wonderful people are willing to sew, in order to get the dresses in for this deliver - time is up!  Please remember if you are still working that this is the last week to finish and ship dresses.  I can't wait to see what shows up at my door this week and next.  I've already seen some beautiful creativity and am so humbled that you are joining me.

Thankful, Sheryl

Word

Gen 50:18-20
His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said.  But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God?  You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

Today

Today our mission team is less than one month from the Philippines.  I'm confident that God is still preparing us, preparing our hearts and minds.

Today Caitlin is not in the Philippines as scheduled due to health issues.  She is heartbroken that her dream is still not reality.

Today approximately 265 dresses are sized and packed for delivery to girls in Cebu, Philippines because of wonderful people using their talents to help deliver God's message of love and eternal life.

Today we are clinging to God's promises of strength and protection.

Today He is in control.

Psalm 118:24

This is the day which the LORD has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Thankful, Sheryl

Word

Isaiah 53:5

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
